Heavy rains lead to flash floods in Meru, Puncak Alam

PETALING JAYA: Heavy rains have led to flash floods at Meru, Klang, and Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari near Puncak Alam on Thursday (Nov 10).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said they received information of flash floods occurring in Meru at around 4.15pm on Thursday.

"We received information that Persiaran Hamzah Alang, Jalan Kasban, Jalan Kenangan, Taman Day, Jalan Khamis, Jalan Jabar and SMK Meru were all affected by fast-rising water.

"We immediately dispatched fire engines and boats from the Kapar and Sungai Pinang Fire Stations along with 13 personnel to the scene," he said when contacted on Thursday.

He said the flash floods were believed to have occurred due to heavy rains and clogged drains there.

"The rain has subsided since then and the water level is decreasing. No evacuations were carried out so far," he said, adding that his personnel would be monitoring the situation closely.
